Luca... and now Belle!!!

Belle, the naughty Mastina pup from Wales found a lovely home with 'Uncle' Luca!

We had a very difficult time fostering her as she brought a terrible bacterial gut infection with her from the kennels that caused all sorts of problems for the foster carer (new carpets, redecorating, major disinfection etc etc...).  She also had an anxiety around men that meant we had to take her introduction to her new male owner very carefully and steadily.

However, in early July she went to live with 'Uncle' Luca and 'Auntie' Coco.

Thank you to her new family for being oh so patient with her

and giving her a wonderful home!

**UPDATE - May 2009**

Luca, the dog who was locked in a muddy yard for over a year without a walk, was recently have been found to have had years of untreated ear infections become calcified in his ears requiring complete removal of the ear canals...  He would never have had to face this with some simple cleaning a few times a week and having any infection treated.

He was lucky to have been insured by his owners now and although deaf after his operations, he is actually much happier now that he does not have the discomfort and pain in his ears.  We went to do a follow up visit and here are the latest pics...

And just check out this beautiful singing voice from an earlier visit...

Lottie

Lottie was dumped in a rescue pound in Wakefield a few months ago, unbearably thin, a'cherry eye' that should have been dealt with years before and a growth on her ear (we think this was why she was dumped - someone couldn't be bothered to take her to the vet).

With the help of some two other rescues we managed to get her down to the kennels of a Mastino expert who cared for her while we looked for a good home.  She was given all the food she needed to put on weight, veterinary treatment to get rid of the cherry eye and best of all, the lump was diagnosed as non-cancerous.  We finally found her a wonderful home and  she made her final journey to Dorset where she is settling in wonderfully well.  Her days of neglect and abuse are finally over...

Here she is in her new home and with new friend, Loot!

N.B. We'd like to thank the two rescues who worked with us to get Lottie all the way from Wakefield to Dorset.  It just goes to show how cooperation between rescues really does help dogs and always welcome the opportunity to work with other organisations to save a dog's life.

Vinnie

We are really happy to let you know that Vinnie will be staying with his foster carers for the rest of his days as they just can't part with him!  He had some behavioural difficulties due to the stream of homes he had before coming to us and he has become so settled where he is after looking for so long that he will be staying with the Mastino experts who have been looking after him.  He is a wonderful, loving dog who deserves a forever home and he's now found one.

Thank you Rick, Anita and your family for loving Vinnie and keeping him with you.

Bella & Hughie

Beautiful Bella was rehomed just before Christmas 2007 to a wonderful home and her owners were so happy with her that they adopted lovely Hughie as a companion and to make their family complete!

We received the sad news not long after Hughie came along that beautiful Bella died of untreatable kidney problems.  We were all devastated.

Then along came Nina.. a poor dog who had been terribly abused, starved and beaten by her previous owners.  She was so fearful that we thought we might have to put her to sleep as the kindest option but Hughie's owners stepped in bravely to save her

Their story is here... An Adopter's Tale

The picture to prove the positive outcome of this remarkable journey is here...

Buster

Big beautiful Buster was rehomed last year and we are really pleased that thanks to some very dedicated work from his owner he is now a very happy, settled dog...  Just look at these pics!  (Well done that photographer because he was apparently impossible to keep still!)

Also check out that terrific slobber bootlace in the second pic - well done Buster!

Gus

Gus was a very lucky dog who only had to wait a week before going to his new home because we had people homechecked and waiting for a young male mastino!  He didn't even need to go onto the website!  Here are some photos of him in his new home with some of his new friends...

We'd like to thank Mac and his family for offering Gus a great new life in Scotland.

Vito

Vito was finally rehomed to a lovely family and he has settled in more quickly than we could ever have hoped for.  This is largely due to the new owners' patient, consistent handling and excellent mastiff-type experience.

Here he is in his new home!

Here are some photos of Vito and his lovely new lady friend, Amy...

It's definitely LOVE!!!

Barney

Barney, the big beautiful clown with a heart of gold has gone to his new home with a family that will give him everything he could ever want and hope for.

He has settled in beautifully with the help of his owners who are complying with all of the behavioural advice they have been given to ease his transition to a new environment as smoothly as possible and using DAP therapy which has been started during his foster care.

We will be following his progress closely and hope to do a follow up check just to make sure that everyone is settled and happy.

He is missed very much by his foster family but knowing he is in the best possible home we could have found for him is a tremendous comfort.

Good Luck Big Barney!

**UPDATE**

A follow up check was undertaken recently and we brought Barney some friends to play with - his 'foster' brother and sister, Bailey & Gus!  We're happy to report that Barney has settled in beautifully and his owners realise how lucky they are to have found him.  He is healthy, happy and looks like he is going to have a wonderful life...  We can't say a big enough 'Thank You' to his new family for giving him the chance to live happily ever after!

**ANOTHER UPDATE - XMAS 2007**

Barney is doing really well and really have made his family complete - they are all really happy, especially sleepy Barney on his favourite bed right by his master's favourite chair!

We'd like to thank his family for giving him one of the most wonderful homes we've ever found and making his story such a happy one...

Bernie

Here is an update on Bernie, rehomed in April 2007:

"I am happy to report that Bernie has adjusted very nicely to our home.  He is spoiled rotten and wants for nothing.  As to the issues we had with him, I think they were mainly due to his being in a new home and was unsure what was expected of him but he is now aware that he is well loved and he need not have any fear of us or anything around him when he is with us.  I am proud to report that his confidence level has increased as was evidenced by his refusal to back down when he was threatened by 2 Rottweilers at the park where we take him for his daily walks.

I am very happy that we have Bernie in our home.  He is an excellent watchdog and a very friendly pup whenever people come to visit as long as he knows who they are or if they are brought into the house by one of us.  He has been learning a few tricks such as "wait", "sit", "lie down" and I've even started training him on fetching with the toy that we have for him.  He also enjoys having "conversations" with us and has very little trouble expressing his needs or wants.  He enjoys playing all the time and he is very gentle.  I really don't know what else to say about him aside from we all love him very much and are very happy to have him around."

Tia

Tia was rehomed through us earlier this year.  She shares her home with a big family including Lady - a collie cross.  Here's the latest update we've received from her owners:

"Our little food problem between her and Lady is still there, and has caused some fights between the two of them. However, they are such good friends and stuck together like glue the rest of the time that it is not enough of a problem to worry about! I just have to feed them seperately and try to keep all crumbs off the floor...

Tia's ear infection was cleared up after her first course of antibiotics from our vet, thankfully, and she is feeling much better. She enjoys her walks with Lady, though we do have to be careful because she still tries to chase smaller animals... we can let her go on the 5metre line, not free completely, but she seems happy enough, when there is definately no other dogs around we let her line go, but she is always as good as gold and stays close by at those times...  Lady follows her everywhere, they sleep together during the day and night.

She is loved to bits by us all, and she sleeps all night in our little boys room."
